Parallel to the material and moral support provided to prisoners, we also offer spiritual support with the following books which were written for the purpose by his Reverence the Arhcimandrite Gervasios Ioannis Raptopoulos, preacher. These books are sent to Prisons so that they are distributed to the prisoners or put in the Prison Libraries.

   

 

2. TEN BROTHERS IN PRISON
(1989 Edition - pp. 72)

It refers to the 10 children of Jacob and their adventure because of their behavior to their brother Josef, who became a viceroy of Egypt.

3. A BANDIT BECOMES A SAINT
(1992 Edition - pp. 78)

It presents the story of a bandit who, through God's grace, became a saint and after his dormition, as a famous Abbot, he left a great number of Monks o­n mount Nitria.

4. IN PURSUIT OF THE BANDIT
(Published by Apostoliki Diakonia, 1993 - pp. 42)

It refers to the dramatic course of Apostle and Evangelist Ioannis o­n the mountains of Asia Minor, where he finds a chief of bandits, a former spiritual child of his, and leads him to repentance and salvation.

It refers to the passions of Christ, while he was in Prison, until he was led to the Calvary.

8. 37 YEARS IN THE PRISONS OF BABYLON
(1997 Edition - pp. 187)

Jehoiakim, King of Israel, does not believe in the true God and a lot of his people follow him. Then, Nabuchadnezzar, a monarch of the Orient, comes and conquers Jerusalem, arrests the king, blinds him and deports him enchained to the prisons of distant Babylon, where he is to remain for 37 years.

9. THE TRAGIC END OF A KING AND HIS
PEOPLE

(1997 Edition - pp. 186)

The highly impious King of Israel Sedekias draws gentry and laity to impiety. As a result, the monarch of the Orient, Nabuchadnezzar conquers Jerusalem, burns down Solomon's Temple and all the houses of the officials, arrests king Sedekias and, blind and enchained, leads him to the house of a miller, where he imprisons him until his death. Meanwhile, Israel disintegrates, becomes a province with Judean Godolias as its administrator, and the city Masifath, in the north, as the capital.
